Public Voluntary Register of Sonographers

Introduction

The College of Radiographers (CoR) administers a Public Voluntary Register for those individuals practising as sonographers. Individuals may have their name entered on this register which will help members of the public and employers to confirm that the sonographer undertaking their examination is appropriately qualified..

Please note that whilst processes are in place to check qualifications, current practice and on-going continuing professional development, acceptance on to this voluntary register does not in itself authenticate competence or fitness to practice. Please also note that there is no Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII) benefit associated with the voluntary register. This must be obtained via an employer, membership of a professional body, or an insurance company. Details of the PII cover obtained via SCoR membership (for example) are available at www.sor.org/being-member/professional-indemnity-insurance

Renewal of Voluntary Registration for the period March 1st 2019 to February 28th 2021

If your name is already listed on the Public Voluntary Register of Sonographers (PVRS) please complete the renewal form at the address below. The renewal form can only be accessed if your name is currently listed on the PVRS. This is very straightforward and should take only a few minutes. If you are not able to access the form and think that your name is already on the voluntary register please contact PVRS@sor.org.

There is also a search facility to check your status below. The renewal window is open between March 1st 2019 and April 30th 2019, after which a new application to the voluntary register will have to be made. There is no charge for renewal of voluntary registration if you are HCPC or NMC registered and/or are a SCoR Ordinary, Associated Professional or SVT PII member.

If you cannot log-in to www.sor.org and your name is listed on the voluntary register please e-mail PVRS@sor.org for a Word based application form which can be returned as an e-mail attachment.

New Applications

The application form for new applicants can be found here. The current registration cycle will end on 28 February 2021, when all voluntary registrants will be asked to renew.

There is no fee for voluntary registration if you are already statutorily registered with the HCPC or NMC, and/or an ordinary, associated professional or SVT PII member of the SCoR. Please see fees schedule PDF at the bottom of this page.

Search for your Sonographer

To search for an individual, please enter their surname into the search box. This will identify all individuals with that surname along with the location of their workplace. In order to protect individuals only limited information will be viewed and it is not possible to search on any criteria other than a known surname. In the past, scope of practice was also displayed here, but this is no longer the case although we do hold the information in our database.

Please Note: An asterisk (*) after the voluntary registrant’s name indicates that they have been admitted to the register with a ‘preceptorship’ annotation. A double asterisk (**) after the voluntary registrant’s name indicates that they have been admitted to the voluntary register solely relating to the practice of musculoskeletal ultrasound.
