Rep of the Year 2020

SoR Rep of the Year is sponsored by:

Howard Kennedy

The Society is looking for nominations for the rep in your workplace who is just that bit special. Someone who goes the 'extra mile' for their colleagues. The conscientious individual who is always trying to do the best for the SoR members in the department.

How to make a nomination:
You can start completing the form below, save it and go back to it again as many times as you like before finally submitting it for consideration by your regional committee/national council.

Nominations MUST be made by Friday, 7 February 2020 to be eligible for consideration.

Only members of the Society of Radiographers can nominate a rep. The rep must also be an accredited Society representative – industrial relations, union learning, or health and safety.

You do not need permission from your nominated rep before you nominate them!

How is the winner chosen?
Regional/national winners are chosen from the nominations received and then a panel of judges (which includes the Society’s President and representative of the award sponsors, Howard Kennedy) choose an overall UK winner.

All winners are presented with their awards and prizes at the Annual Delegates Conference.

What are the prizes?
The winner of the SoR UK Rep of the Year 2020 will receive £250 and a certificate. Each of the regional/national winners will receive £100 and a certificate.

If you have any questions about the nomination process, please email.

What will the judges be looking for?

  • Is there something particularly special the rep has done?
  • Are they someone who consistently defends their colleagues and makes sure that everyone's voice is heard?
  • Have they championed the work of the department and the individuals in it?
  • Have they negotiated a particularly good deal for the members they represent?
  • Are they always available to talk and listen to members?
  • Do they try and work in partnership with managers, whilst making sure that members' interests are being looked after?

Try to include as much information as you can. It's not enough to say that "Fred is a really good bloke and always has time to have a pint with his colleagues after work," or "Suzie is the only person who would be a rep and took the time to do the course."

What actions has the individual actually taken to improve things for individuals, or for the department? Did they take the lead and organise everyone during the days of industrial action?

Try to make your nominee stand out... they deserve it!

Ensure that the Rep of the Year judges are fully informed as to why the rep you nominate is the BEST.
