The course is aimed at reporting radiographers who would like to develop their understanding of interstitial lung disease. The course is workshop style with limited delegate numbers to encourage interaction and discussion of cases.
The aim is to provide the reporting practitioner with the necessary knowledge and skill to help identify and understand the causes of interstitial abnormality, and improve confidence in the plain film diagnosis of interstitial lung disease.
30 CXR will made available on the day for delegates to report. The cases will include normal, ILD and other interstitial abnormalities. Once reports submitted, the CXRs will be reviewed and discussed with relevant additional imaging including CT scans.
The tutor will lead a discussion of each case to include clinical features, differential diagnoses and comparison with relevant cross sectional imaging where necessary.
Will I get a record of my reports? All answers are anonymous and emailed to each delegate at the end of the reporting session. For those who want it, there is the option to request scores of the assessments for individual and groups responses.
Learning Objectives
To understand the importance of correctly identifying ILD
To recognised the appearance of interstitial abnormalities on CXR
To understand the difference between airspace and interstitial abnormality, interstitial lung disease and interstitial fibrosis
To be aware of the causes of interstitial abnormality and ILD
To understand the relevance of clinical features when proving a diagnosis
To increase confidence in diagnosis and when to ask for a second opinion
Is this course suitable for me?
The course is designed to be suitable for CXR reporters irrespective of level of experience. Cases vary in difficulty and we are aware that the delegates will have different skill level. However, this is a safe environment: You will be able to compare your results with the overall group responses but your own individual results will only be know to you and the tutor. This is to ensure that everyone can feel confident to participate. Explanations are given for all cases reviewed during the course to allow you to understand the reasons why errors are made.
