This wil be a chat show style conversation, featuring two accomplished radiography professionals who will share insight into their career journey, skills and traits they’ve developed to progress further, and advice for those considering a similar career path.

Claire Powlesland
Advanced Clinical Practitioner Therapeutic Radiographer and PhD student
Claire is a therapeutic radiographer working as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner with a specialist interest in gynaecological cancers and the late effects of pelvic radiotherapy. As well as working clinically at South Tees Hospitals NHS foundation Trust, she is also undertaking a PHD at Leeds Beckett University. Her research is focused on codesigning services to support those living with the adverse late effects of pelvic radiotherapy.
Nick Barlow
Consultant Radiographer
Nick qualified as a Diagnostic Radiographer at the University of Leeds in 2009 practising in Hull, Mid Yorkshire and Rotherham Trusts. Nick subsequently gained extensive experience within plain film reporting and achieved the role of Consultant Radiographer in 2019. Nick has authored various publications in relation to radiographer reporting, consultancy and the COVID 19 pandemic. He has undertaken conference presentations at local and national level, and peer reviews for both the Radiography Journal and Insight (for which he is a member of the Editorial Board).
In 2022 Nick moved into Private/Locum Consultancy and provides teleradiology and lecturing through his own limited company. He still maintains a keen interest in current professional issues and Consultant/Advanced Practice through his involvement with the Consultant Radiographer Advisory Group. He also maintains his role as a registered assessor for the Society and College of Radiographers, involved in the accreditation and approval of Advanced Practitioner applications.
