Recent events – notably the rise in overt racism and the pressures on the NHS – present the NHS and its staff and leaders with serious challenges. Racial abuse and attacks faced by NHS staff have significantly increased.
The NHS has failed to tackle race discrimination towards its own staff despite efforts to do so. There is growing recognition of the scale and impact of race discrimination in service access and delivery.
What steps must the NHS take to protect staff and services? What must leaders and staff do?
