Non-judgemental communication relating to Down's Syndrome

Join us for an insightful session with Lucienne Cooper, Training Manager at Down Syndrome UK exploring the lived experience of Down’s Syndrome, past and present.

During this session, participants will have the opportunity to:

• Understand how life with Down’s Syndrome has evolved and what it means in the 21st century.
• Hear new research into how women are told about a Down’s Syndrome diagnosis, their screening experiences, and maternal wellbeing, alongside an antenatal pathway.
• Recognise best and poor practices in communicating a Down’s Syndrome diagnosis, including the impact of language.
• Apply insights from lived experiences and new antenatal pathways to improve support for families.

The session will close with a moving video of parents reflecting on receiving the news of their baby’s diagnosis and the support that helped them most.
